Our Team
Tracy Durkin, Founder, Executive Director. Tracy has been a social worker since she was a child, but she didn’t gain her credentials to officially counsel people until receiving her MSW from Rutgers in 1990 and then her clinical license in 1994. Over her career, she has enjoyed working in a variety of settings, the most recent of which is a private family therapy practice in Tinton Falls, NJ, since 1997.
Tracy’s more current love is Arts Healing Hearts, which was born on November 16, 2012. She had been volunteering in other ways since the day after Hurricane Sandy hit the NJ coast in late October, but on that day, she had the simple thought that a way to help kids whose lives had been turned upside down by the storm might be to do fun art activities with them. From that, Arts Healing Hearts has grown into a non-profit organization that has touched the lives of over 50 children and is still growing!

Cynthia Borghetti, Director of Art Healing Hearts. Cynthia is a graduate of Monmouth University with a Master’s degree in Education in 2013 and a Bachelors in Fine Art in 2012. Cynthia has been teaching children for over 13 years. Along with teaching, she always knew there was a need to do something more and wanted to give back to her community and beyond. She began working with the foundation Art Healing Hearts in the winter of 2015. The foundation began in 2013 to help children who were victims of “Super Storm Sandy Hurricane” to be able to cope with their trials and tragedy through art. Cynthia is a seasoned volunteer through various church and nonprofit organizations, local girls/boys scouts and felt very comfortable stepping in and give her time to those in need through art.
Cynthia grew up in New York where she began her career in Business and worked for 10 years in the field, yet always had a desire for art. In her spare time she would frequent many NYC art museums and shows and took many art history classes. In 1997, Cynthia moved to New Jersey to raise her family. She began her teaching career in 2002 at Luther Memorial Preschool where she found her love of educating children. At that time she also developed and implemented a new innovative art classes for preschoolers. The curriculum entailed identifying and describing historical artists and have the children apply a created a work of art in the similar style of those artists. During her time teaching in the preschool, Cynthia returned to college and received her degrees, in what she is most passionately in love with, Art and Education. Cynthia also enjoys taking continuing education art classes to keep up with her craft and is currently in the process of writing a book about an Art teacher and her inquisitive students who try to find hidden treasures in the art lesson that are presented for the day.
